The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is young and at the same time has a long tradition. It was created in 2009 by merging the Karlsruhe Research Center, founded in 1956, with the University of Karlsruhe, which began in 1825 as the Karlsruhe Polytechnic School. Teaching, learning and research have been carried out here for 200 years. Innovations from Karlsruhe have shaped our everyday lives and science - in the region, in Germany and around the world. 100 objects from the KIT make it possible to experience its development into a unique scientific institution that simultaneously fulfills the tasks of a major national research institution and a state university.
